Why Choose Microneedling?
At Carson Williams MD Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer advanced microneedling treatments in Leawood, KS to help you achieve smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven texture—without downtime or surgery.
Performed by Dr. Carson Williams in our state-of-the-art clinic, microneedling is ideal for patients looking to improve skin tone and texture with lasting, natural-looking results.
Microneedling uses tiny, controlled micro-injuries to trigger your skin’s healing response, encouraging the growth of new collagen and elastin. This process revitalizes the skin from the inside out, improving:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars and enlarged pores
- Uneven skin tone and texture
- Skin laxity and dullness
Many patients notice visible improvements after just one session, with optimal results appearing after a series of treatments.

Who is an ideal candidate for the microneedling treatment?
Anyone! As long as there isn’t an active skin infection or cold sore present, any person can receive a microneedle treatment. How does microneedling work?
Microneedling causes a controlled injury to the dermis of the skin. When the small needles penetrate into the dermis, the collagen is stimulated to repair itself in a better form than it was before the injury. Think of it analogous to aerating your lawn which stimulates it to grow better.
How many treatments will I need and how often?
You will see results after one microneedling treatment, but generally, a series of three sessions at least 4 weeks apart is recommended to achieve and maintain best results. Full results take several months to observe.
How long will the results last?
Technically, forever. The results will always be present, but the skin is constantly changing and evolving.
What is the downtime, and when will my skin look “normal” again?
One of the great benefits of microneedling is patients usually experience minimal or no downtime. The treated area may be red for about 24 to 36 hours. You may do whatever activity you like during that time as long as you moisturize thoroughly. Regular cleaning, moisturizing and sun protection are imperative to maximize your results.
Which areas of the body can be treated with microneedling?
While microneedling can be done on most parts of the body, we specialize in microneedling on the face, upper and lower lip, under eyes and neck.
What can I do to remain comfortable during the procedure?
There are several options available for comfort. Topical numbing cream is always used for 30-45 minutes in the office before the procedure. A chiller is also always used that blows ice-cold on the treatment area during the procedure. Also available is an inhaled nitrous oxide system that is included for all patients at no extra charge. Finally, if desired or necessary pre-procedure oral sedatives/pain medication can be called into your pharmacy.
What do I need to do to prepare for the treatment?
It is very important to avoid the sun or use sun protection for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. Retinols/tretinoin should be stopped 3-5 days before a treatment.
How long does it take to perform the microneedling treatment?
The treatment itself is relatively quick and will last about 30-40 minutes. However, topical numbing will be applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment to allow time for numbing prior to treatment.
What do I need to do after my treatment?
Avoid the sun, clean the skin daily, moisturize thoroughly around the clock until any scabbing, flaking or crusting has totally resolved. This may be anywhere from 1-2 days. After microneedling avoid wearing makeup for 2-3 days.
What skincare products do you recommend as a complement to the procedure?
We recommend the SkinMedica Procedure 360 System it has everything you need for before and after a procedure for sun protection, cleansing, moisturization and nutrients to optimize the results of your procedure.
Do you offer a vampire facial?
Yes, we offer a vampire facial which is microneedling combined with PRP, or platelet rich plasma. PRP is derived from your blood and applied to your face through microneedling. The PRP helps accentuate the effect of collagen stimulation and directly delivers growth factors to the layer of the skin where they are needed most.

Microneedling is $800 per session, or a series of 3 for $2,200.
